Located amidst pine clad mountains and set above the beach resort of Olu Deniz, Ovacik enjoys a peaceful and attractive setting. The air here is usually fresher and cooler than at sea level and, in late Spring, the air is filled with the aromas and scents of woodsmoke, flowers and, of course, pine trees. It really is a lovely location and its only a short distance to the beach at Olu Deniz.
Ovacik really is the best of both worlds. On the one hand you have the peace and quiet of a rural village; on the other hand, the neighbouring resort of Hisaronu, with its wide selection of shops, bars, restaurants and night life, is only a 20 minute stroll away. And the wonderful beach at Olu Deniz is only 15 minutes away by local dolmus.
Any time is a good time to visit Ovacik but the best time to visit is in May, June, September and October when the mountain air is fresh, the evenings are cooler than at sea level and daytime temperatures are in the high 70s or low 80s. Even in July and August, evening temperatures are very pleasant.
With a backdrop of pine-clad mountains and with lovely country and mountain views, Ovacik enjoys a great location. Its all very laid-back, easy-going and friendly and is ideal for a relaxing holiday. There are a few shops and bars in the village but for a much wider selection, Hisaronu is only a 20 minute stroll away. The two resorts are also connected by a regular dolmus service.
Although Ovacik has a few places to enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink, youll find a huge selection of cafes, bars and restaurants in nearby Hisaronu. If youd like a delicious meal by the sea or an evening cocktail close to the beach, then Olu Deniz is the place to be and is only 15 minutes away by dolmus.
Theres a good choice of excursions and sightseeing trips to be enjoyed from Ovacik in addition to numerous boat trips available from nearby Olu Deniz. Amongst the places you can visit are Dalyan (the Lycian rock tombs), Ephesus & Pamukkale, Saklikent and Rhodes (Greece). You can also try your hand at white water rafting, a Jeep Safari and paragliding and the area is wonderful for walking.
Just a 20 minute walk away or less than 5 minutes by taxi or dolmus, Ovaciks neighbouring resort of Hisaronu is the place to go for a lively night out. Here you will find a great selection of bars, discos and night spots to appeal to most tastes. Shopping is good, too, and theres also a weekly market. In nearby Fethiye theres also a good selection of shops, and leather goods especially bags, jackets, belts, wallets are a particularly good buy.
