Gumbet, a lively resort with plenty of things to see and do, is one of Turkeys most popular destinations. Its very laid back by day with a wide variety of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from whilst by night its a vibrant, fun-filled resort with an array of nightspots, music bars and discos. But, at the same time, its very easy to find quieter, more laid back places, like Bitez, just a short distance away by boat or by dolmus. What was once a small, sleepy village is now a major resort and boasts a range of excellent facilities.
Gumbet has a great selection of bars and places to eat, a good choice of mini-markets and shops, countless night spots and a long, narrow, sand and shingle beach which slopes gently into the sea and is perfect for children. Theres also great sightseeing and its perfect for couples and families alike. And its only a relatively short distance from Bodrum airport. A great resort with something for everyone.
Any time is a good time to visit Gumbet but we think the best time to visit is in May, June, September and October when the temperatures are perfect in the high 70s or low 80s. The beach can get crowded in July and August but there are other beaches nearby, like Bitez, which are less crowded even in high season.
Enjoying a great location and boasting all the amenities normally associated with a popular resort, Gumbet is perfect for a Turkish getaway. Its just 15 minutes by dolmus from Bodrum, with its fabulous harbour, castle, shops, bazaars and famous nightspots, and is only a short distance from other smaller, more relaxed resorts like Bitez and Gumusluk. Theres plenty to see and do by day and by night and theres a wide range of accommodation, from family-run pensions to excellent 4 star hotels.
Gumbet offers a wide selection of places to eat and drink from fast food outlets to excellent local and international restaurants. There are also family-run cafes and upmarket bars for that special cocktail or romantic evening. Theres something for everyone and, a huge plus, at very affordable prices.
You will be spoilt for things to do and see and, apart from the numerous boat trips available, including a day trip to the Greek island of Kos (from nearby Bodrum), you can also visit and / or try your hand at every type of water sport in addition to enjoying a Jeep Safari, a Turkish Bath, a visit to Pamukkale and, of course, a not-to-be-missed trip to Ephesus.
Gumbets nightlife and shopping is plenty and varied with a good selection of shops, music bars and discos. However, for serious shopping and serious night owls Bodrum, with its great club and bar scene, is just a short distance away either by taxi or dolmus. Shopping in the local markets and bazaars in Bodrum is great fun (and easy to get to) and theres a wide array of shops and stalls of every kind.
