Holidays in Calis Beach

Calis Beach Introduction

With its magnificent 2 mile beach and an easy-going atmosphere, Çaliş Beach is a great place for a relaxing holiday. The beach is set in a wide bay which is protected by several small offshore islands and water taxis operate a regular service to and from Fethiye which is just across the bay. In Fethiye, there’s a weekly market, a museum and a choice of night-spots. In Çaliş there’s a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants lining the pedestrianised sea front and, if you like stunning sunsets then an evening drink here is the place to be.

Why Choose Calis Beach?

Calis Beach is perfect for those looking for peace and relaxation by day but with the option of some night life in Calis or nearby Fethiye. There’s a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants and, all along the sea front promenade, you’ll find a choice of excellent restaurants and bars. The resort caters for all tastes and all ages and for the more adventurous there’s a good selection of watersports.

Best Time to Travel

Calis Beach is a delight in May and October – warm and peaceful – but we think the best time to visit is in June and September when the temperatures are perfect – around 80F. The beach rarely gets crowded apart from August when it can be very busy. If it’s sea-swimming you like then September is the best month as it’s at its warmest then.

The Resort

Located towards the western end of a huge bay with a magnificent 2 mile-long beach just a stone’s throw away, Calis Beach enjoys a superb location. The beach and the bay are protected by several small offshore islands and water taxis operate a regular shuttle service to Fethiye on the other side of the bay. There’s a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants along the pedestrianised promenade and there’s a little low-key night-life.

Eating & Drinking

Although Calis Beach is well served with its own very good restaurants, the place to be is Fethiye, just across the bay, especially if you enjoy seafood. There’s a wide selection of restaurants both in the old town and along the sea front promenade and there’s also a number of local and international restaurants to choose from in addition to many bars and cafes.

Excursions

Calis Beach offers a really good selection of excursions and sightseeing trips in addition to numerous boat trips along the beautiful coastline and to offshore islands. Amongst the places you can visit are Dalyan (the Lycian rock tombs), Ephesus & Pamukkale, Saklikent and Rhodes (Greece). You can also try your hand at white water rafting, a Jeep Safari and paragliding.

Night Life & Shopping

Although there is some low-key nightlife in Calis Beach itself, Fethiye is the place to go for a lively night out. Here you will find a selection of bars and night spots to appeal to most tastes. The sea front promenade is the place to be for an evening cocktail, and a lovely sunset, too. There’s a good selection of shops in Fethiye, and leather goods – bags, jackets, belts, wallets – are a particularly good buy.
